The course Structure Borne Sound treats the field of sound insulation more in depth. The mechanisms of sound generation by excitation of a building construction are treated as caused by human activities, installations and equipment and the transmission of vibrational sound through the building structures.
Theory:- the source-transmission-receiver model in acoustics;
- the analogy and difference with airborne sound;
- the modelling of sound sources;
- the characteristic quantities to describe this,
- the basic relations,
- the measurement methods and the measures for improvement.
